"food and service was superb. the serving size of the gyukatsu was worth the price and they also give refills of the shredded cabbage and rice."

"To be frank, I’m not sure whether to give up on this dish Gyukatsu or this restaurant. I had tried a similar restaurant in Singapore but wasn’t too pleased with it so I decided to give this dish another chance here in Bangkok. I ordered the sirloin and beef tongue as a side dish. I didn’t consider the wagyu as it was too expensive. When the sirloin was served, first thing I noticed was that it was cut into many slices and internally it was slightly pale. In Singapore, the slices should have been medium rare or so I’ve been told. Here, it looked raw. But no matter…they have provided a stone “heater” for you to grill the beef to your doneness. Well, I did heat up some slices and it was difficult to control the heat and they ended up well done. Well, obviously that’s my fault. But whatever the doneness, the beef was tasteless which was why sauces were provided as dip. Salt was also provided as dip. Despite the thinness of the beef, they were springy not tender. Next: the tongue I ordered. They were thicker and the first piece I grilled quickly and popped it into my mouth. Tender and juicy…I was so pleased. I decided to do the same thing for the next slice but it came out chewy. So chewy I had to spit it out. Perhaps I undercooked so the next piece I cooked a Iittle longer. It was the same…rubbery and I couldn’t chew through. I think I ended up spitting 80% of the tongue. Thoroughly disappointing. The good thing about this meal was the free flow rice and cold green tea, and the different types of sauces. However, I would declare I’m giving up Gyukatsu."

"This restaurant serves superb Japanese deep fried beef!! The crust is crispy and the beef is still pretty nice and pink! Not to mention the meat is really juicy and fresh. They lock the flavour of the meat nicely. Thumbs up for that. If you like a more well-done beef texture, they even provide a small "stove" for you on your to further grill your meat to your preference! Which we do, and by grilling it a bit more, it add in to the flavour. Taste awesome! The set meal also comes with 4 different type of sauces. Personally, I'm in love with their curry sauce. Goes super well with the beef and the rice. The staff is really attentive, and will come to refill our cabbage since it's free flow. Same goes to the miso soup, you may request for a refill too! They do have other side dishes like deep fried salmon fillet too. You will like that. Strongly recommend this restaurant if you are a beef lover!"
